  Finding the value of God; Isn't it better to believe in a deity?

  the question as to what believing in this entity called god entails is a fairly important question that needs to be answered first.

  to me, the key difference between a universe in which god exists versus one where god doesn't lies in the idea of teleology.

  in my view, a universe with god entails some sort of process towards an end, an end which can be characterized with words such as bliss and unity and others.

  based on the new garlic bread parable in this month's broadcast with the illustration using loaves of bread.

  it is obvious that the doors of the arc has been closed shut by jehovah's hand for some of us.. according to the new parable that can be found on jw tv.

  Quality of newer membership

  on a previous post mamacita29 pointed up the low quality of new jw converts.. is the quality falling even more as the society use lower than low meeting, talks, broadcasts etc.. when i was active initially the organisation and standards seemed totally different today.

  i have seen hard working intelligent elders fall by death or exhaustion.

  the younger generation that came along never really grasped responsibility hence shortage of good elders, never mind the watered down to almost nothing quality of meetings.

  From the time I was a kid the literature was very psuedo-intellectual with tomes like "Babylon the Great Has Fallen" and "The Finished Mystery" both in the early 60's. When the Truth book appeared I was 11 years old and it seemed as if it was just condensed, not simple. The reality is that the mass conversion tactic of the "Truth" book became a downward spiral. It has become dumber and dumber to the point where the brochures are pamphlets and the magazines are tracts. There is no longer any intellectual appeal so the recruits are pretty much simpletons without an income seeking to belong to the "happiest people on earth". The odd intellect is probably attracted by a desire for power.

  A philosophical question .... what does the word God mean to you personally ?

  to myself it means to seek knowledge and understanding of are selves and the world in which we live.. unfortunately history has shown whenever one tries to connect to god and of his knowledge through men who say they themselves are connected to god through spiritual wifi ie.

  gb members of the jehovah's witnesses for example, one usually ends up finding a accumulation of only man's acquired knowledge.

  over thousands of years of trying to connect to a god(s) for help and answers, mankind has eventually relinquished himself to seeking answers through scientific investigative acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in.

  australia is home to 223 species of marsupial.. lacking a womb our mammalian cousins give birth to their young at a very early stage of development and then nurse them to maturity.

  female marsupials also have 3 vaginas but that is another thread.. the earliest fossils of marsupials are not to be found in australia however but in north america 80 million years ago.

  their journey can be followed south all the way to the tip of south america 40 million years ago and then they suddenly turn up in australia 30 million years ago.. so where were joey's ancestors during the missing 10 million years and how did they manage to get to australia?.

  Just got an apology from an exJW

  so i'm back from the store walking to my apartment, over a hundred units in the complex - all jws and ex-jws - and i see someone talking to an ex-jw neighbor of mine.

  she turns around and says "now there's some else i have to apologize to".. she identified herself as an old neighbor who used to play as a jw child right by my place.

  she had told me how she was raised to consider me and all the ex-jws in the apartment complex as evil and thought she had to apologize for that.. made my day.
